People Making a Difference: liveacre

“We are a bunch of relentless dreamers who run a company. Terrifying, isn’t it? We make tees that support different charities that we love. My name’s Jessie. I founded Liveacre in 2011. It is currently run out of Los Angeles by a horde of wonderful (& rowdy) people.” –Quote from liveacre: who are we?!

I love little secret societies with secret causes and secret members, and secret ambitions. It has always been a little dream of mine to be part of a secret group of people that do confidential things. Everyone has at some point of their life. Who doesn’t want to be James Bond, Scarface, Luke Skywalker, or Kim Possible? (Honestly, out of those options I would go with James Bond, Hands down.) If you ever want to know the art of true secrecy, you’ll never hear it from my lips. (“First rule of fight club…”)

Well if you’re like me, then there is a society for you! It’s called Liveacre! Here are people who not only talk and try to change the world, but who actually making a difference. I’ve heard it said that every war and revolution can be traced down to being started by an individual. Guess what! liveacre is the brain child of a single person. A person who wanted to start a revolution! As far as I can tell, it’s working. Slowly but surely, these dreamers are taking over the world.

Check out this mock-protest they did! If I saw this on my way to school, I would be happy for two days at least.

The basic beginning: If you want to successful, you must have a goal. This may  not even be a specific goal, it could be a cause.  Jessie, one of the founders, left the  city pace of LA to go to a town in the midwest. She was there for about 2 months then returned to the east coast fully charged with a plan.

Livacre is actually a clothing store charity service (You can buy a shirt with fantastically awesome wings on it and half of the cost will be donated to charity and to build a forest in Africa!) but is also focusing it’s efforts a little closer to home. By home, I mean you. Liveacre is something everyone can get involved in. All you need is passion, creativity, and some wild. According to them, everyone has a little wild. One thing they are currently doing is called the Weekly Wild. They do something crazy at the beginning of the week then turn the rest of the week to you to see what good ideas you come up with and execute. Have a project coming up? Secret Santa? Just want to put some good out into the world? Check out the cool things people are doing on their website!

Lets dig deeper. Jessie found a cause. Not just any cause either. She found THE cause. The cause that inspired such a fire in her that she put actual effort into it. She also found a cause that not only drove her, but many others as well. Liveacre caters to everyone. Everybody can find their own personal cause within hers. If your more of a quiet, peaceful, help from afar type, you can donate to the Liveacre forest. If you want to add excitement to your life, you can participate in the Weekly Wild. If you want to change the community you can get inspired from the blog and/or the Weekly Wild. What Jessie has done in the last 6 months is something I have desired to do since I was 5. If I can accomplish what she has by the time I am 19, I would be obnoxiously unstoppable.

If they keep up their spark, spunk spirit and soul cause, I can see these people going very far.

  1. I think people often forget that there is so much they can do in their own communities and it really doesn’t take that much effort to find a place to start. Schools, scouts, libraries, community centers, nursing homes, and the list goes on. And it really is true that one person can make a difference. A little effort goes a long way.
